Sevenoaks and Swanley MP needs to clarify Brexit policies urgently
Dear Sir,
Michael Fallon MP campaigned for Britain to remain in the EU in the June referendum, but is now calling for 'Full Brexit'.
But he also still wants to maximise our trade with the EU. Can he tell us whether or not then the UK will still be a member of the Single Market, as the Conservative manifesto pledged at the last general election?
There is already considerable confusion between Tory ministers on policies such as making companies list all overseas workers, rightly condemned, even within the defence ministers own party. Many local and City employers and workers rightly want urgent clarity on these issues from the government.
But the contradictions that need clearing up continue even at local level where the Conservatives have issued leaflets stating there will be Brexit by next Spring, when in fact this is merely the timetable given by the prime minister for triggering Article 50, which MPs should have a full vote on, and not just an undemocratic coterie of top Tories.
