Dear Residents of Sevenoaks Town,
I’m standing for re-election because I want the best for Sevenoaks and everyone who lives here. It’s a great place to live and work—but we can make it even better.
Over the past four years, we’ve made good progress in making Sevenoaks fairer, safer, cleaner, and greener, but there’s still more to do. With a growing team of Lib Dem councillors, we have a chance to bring positive change after years of Conservative control.
In times of change, your voice must be at the heart of County Council decisions. My priorities are on this page — together, we can make a real difference. Thank you for your support!

Richard's Commitments for Sevenoaks Town
A VIBRANT AND SUCCESSFUL SEVENOAKS TOWN
As Sevenoaks changes and grows, we must get development right. Wrong turns will be disastrous.
- Bring back our market town - plans for the new covered market are under threat from Conservative incompetence.
- Manage the traffic – we can change and improve the flow of traffic through the town
- Back the BID - support our small businesses and local economy with a Business improvement District.
HOUSING FOR PEOPLE AND NOT JUST FOR PROFIT
Conservative controlled councils in Sevenoaks and Kent have ducked the housing issue for decades and local people are paying the price.
- Ensure the houses we build are the ones that we need - the right size, in the right place and at the right price.
IMPROVE OUR TRANSPORT AND ENVIRONMENT
We can make Sevenoaks much easier for cyclists and walkers, improving our environment and quality of life.
- Create a plan to complete the walking and cycling scheme for the whole town.
- Fix the potholes. There are three times as many potholes as two years ago. Conservative controlled Kent County Council has lost control of road maintenance.
FOCUS ON EDUCATION
Much of our education is excellent. But provision for special needs and for families in Sevenoaks must be improved. The Conservatives have failed to provide adequate school places in this part of Kent for decades.
- Support more quality school places in the Sevenoaks area, including a transformation of SEND provision.
Richard's Bold Plan - For a Better Kent
1. Transform the NHS and Care
Support the essential investment we need to transform Health and Care services across Kent, to ensure local people have better access to GP appointments, as well as both mental health and maternity services.
2. Work for a Successful reorganisation of Local Government
Residents must come first and not party political interests. With major changes ahead, the priority should be better services, greater efficiency, and fair representation for local people & communities.
3. Protect the Environment
Kent’s green spaces and rivers are under threat. Stronger recycling initiatives are needed, water companies must be held accountable for the pollution in our rivers and the Garden of England must be preserved for future generations.
