Park and Ride to reduce Town Centre traffic pressures

12 Sep 2014

Local Lib Dem councillors have previously highlighted the shortage of long term parking in the centre of Sevenoaks and proposed the reopening of the Park-and-Ride service from Otford Road.

This would reduce the number of cars coming into the town and the pressure on residential streets.

The Tory response to the problem has been to propose an enormous £4 million multi-storey carpark adjacent to Knole Park and looming over households in Buckhurst Lane, Akehurst Lane and Buckhurst Avenue.

But they have not explained how the town centre roads could cope with the extra traffic that would result from this scheme.

In the meantime, Kent County Council have still failed to come up with any solution to the massive traffic pressure which will be generated by the building of two large secondary schools on the same site by the junction between Seal Hollow Road and the A25.

This is hardly joined up thinking, and would most likely result in more gridlock still.
