Subject: Train delay info

Dear Sir,

Tony Clayton and the Sevenoaks Rail Travellers Association are absolutely spot on about giving passengers adequate and timely information.

The other day I was stuck on a train at Sevenoaks station, with hundreds of other passengers to London, awaiting the arrival of a driver from an incoming train.

When I tried to calculate the loss of 15 minutes time to each passenger it very soon dawned on me how much the cumulative losses from such delays are worth every day.

What compounded the situation was the contradictory messages given over the tannoy for this delay, an all too often occurrence.

With the likely disruption expected from the new timetable for the London Bridge upgrade, it is surely even more vital to keep travellers fully informed, both through platform and on-train announcements, websites, Twitter, and other social media.

Yours,

Dr Alan Bullion
