Though the national results were extremely disappointing, with too many Liberal Democrat target seats missed by a narrow margin, the local results for the four constituencies within the Sevenoaks, Dartford and Gravesham Liberal Democrats area provided some cheer despite none being a target seat enjoying any central support:
- In Dartford we more-than-doubled our vote-share (up by 165%), putting us clearly in third place.
- In Gravesham we more-than-doubled our vote share (up by 116%) putting us clearly in third place.
- In Sevenoaks we more-than-doubled our vote share (up by 136%) putting us clearly in second place and the challengers to the Conservatives.
- In Tonbridge and Malling, we more than doubled our vote share (up by 131%) moving into second place for only the second time.
Whatever the new Government brings, your Liberal Democrat Councillors in Sevenoaks, Edenbridge and across the country will work to ensure that this government is held to account and they are held to the promises made in their manifesto and election campaign.
