Alan Bullion to defend Sevenoaks and Swanley against Fallon's 'Total Brexit'

Dr Alan Bullion will be the Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Sevenoaks and Swanley, standing up for local people against a Tory Hard Brexit.

Alan works in business reports publishing and has also taught for the Open University. He stood in Sevenoaks and Swanley at the 2015 and 2010 general elections, and in Hammersmith & Fulham in 2005. He was also a County Council candidate for Swanley & Hextable in 2009.

Alan was born at Pembury Hospital, brought up on the Higham Wood council estate in Tonbridge, and attended Tunbridge Wells Technical High School for Boys, where he later become a governor. As a mature student he achieved an Open University degree and wrote a PhD on the Tamil Tigers at the University of Southampton, published as an academic book.

He worked for 20 years at Hodder & Stoughton publishers in Dunton Green, near Sevenoaks. Then at the New Statesman selling advertising space. More recently he has worked in Tunbridge Wells for Agra Europe, and now commutes to Informa in London.

Alan is an active campaigner on disability, having suffered life-long from motor dyspraxia, and also works on LGBT+, mental health, and human rights issues. Better education, environmental issues, food and farming, healthcare, housing provision, rural and social services and public transport are among his main political interests.

Alan is also passionately pro-European and a regular speaker to local schools and colleges on citizenship issues. He is also a member of the Campaign for Real Ale, Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, European Movement, National Union of Journalists, and the United Nations Association.
