Swanley Division in the KCC Elections 2021

Our Liberal Democrat candidate for the county division is Jon Alexander.

Jon Alexander ()

In Jon's own words:

I am a passionate believer that everyone has the capability and the desire to make a positive contribution to society - and that it's the job of government at all levels to create the conditions where it's possible for them to do so.
I am an outspoken advocate of providing everyone a Universal Basic Income, which would see each and every one of us receive enough money to live on, regardless of circumstance, from government - replacing costly and stigmatising benefits systems, and giving us all a foundation to stand on, especially in these uncertain times.
In my working life, I founded and run the New Citizenship Project, a strategy and innovation company on a mission to support the shift in the dominant story of the individual in society from Consumer to Citizen, whose client list includes The Guardian, the European Central Bank and the European Journalism Centre.
I am a Fellow of the Young Foundation and the Royal Society of Arts, and a member of the OECD's Future of Democracy Network.
I have also represented Great Britain in two different sports.
I write (including regular open letters holding Laura Trott, our current MP, to account for her role in government decisions such as the failure and then U-turn on extending free school meals) at and can be found on twitter and facebook @jonjalex
