Save Our Buses

July 10, 2022 11:33 AM

Buses are a cleaner, greener form of transport. They are also used for the vital tasks of taking our children to school, and get some of the most vulnerable members of our community to medical appointments, to shops and to work. They have value beyond a simple commercial calculation. Kent County Council have decided to cut £2.2 million from a £6 million support package for bus routes. Sign our Petition to protect our bus routes.

Sevenoaks Bus Depot (Claire Shea)

Conservative run Kent County Council decided to cut £2.2 million from a £6 million support package for bus routes. At the same time fuel costs have spiralled and there has been a shortage of drivers. Routes that were once commercially viable are now losing money.

Supporting the buses now is an investment in the future. Please show Kent Conservatives that you want to keep your bus services.

By way of example at Go Coach there are thirty six services that are currently running below the long term commercially viable threshold and only six above it. The services slated for withdrawal include the transport of 500 children to school. It is the same across all bus companies. If parents have to take children to school by car it will mean more rush hour congestion and more pollution in our towns. If we want to save our buses we must act now.

Please show your support and sign our petition.
